Since PB4L was brought into SPS, I have been the Coach for this. The school has made a number of changes and created a system for rewarding positive behaviour. We have also develped a system for dealing with problematic behaviour.
Some of the changes I have made are captured below, as well as developing the AIM High Logo through consultation with the school community (above)
REWARDING POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS
Behaviours
which attract positive consequences are those which are in line with “AIM HIGH” Pinkies – quick and effective reward given at the teachers discretion
to acknowledge positive behaviours in line with ‘AIM HIGH’. These are "Catch me when I'm good" strategies.
1. Every 10
pinkies will result in a sticker on the principals award chart which must be
observable in each class. This can be found in the PB4L folder (on google
drive, teachers, PB4L)
2. Once 10
individual stickers on the Principals award chart is received, the students are
entitled to go to the Associate or Deputy Principal to receive a ‘Principals
Award’ on their certificate. This must be organised in advance with the AP’s.
3. Every
multiple of three Principals Awards stickers will generate reward time for the
children and a prize from the Principals prize cupboard. The third Principal
award sticker will be given by the principal. From here, the students will need
to alert the office staff what it is they want to do with their reward time. The
reward time differs for each age group.
Y7/8: 2 hours
Y5/6: 1 ½ hours
Y3/4: 1 hour
Y1/2: Prize only.
Please note: The usage of the contract time must be by mutual agreement of the Child
/ parent / teacher. Contract time must be used within 10 weeks of issue. The Principal
/ Associate Principals will issue these awards.
Class Honours Awards:
Each Thursday afternoon, the Associate Principal will arrange for Class
Honours Award recipients to be collected from each class. These awards
will then be placed on display for one week in the Administration foyer; after
this period they will be distributed to class teachers who will issue them to
the respective children.
·
Recipients
will be highlighted in the school newsletter
